Necromancer Guild

Head out of the North Gate of Crossing and find the Monk guarding the entrance to the premium PGDS and Garg area. Ask the monk about job twice. He will transport you to an instanced area. You will be given a medallion that you need to be wearing to enter the next area at any time after this, if you TURN it, it will be hidden. NOTE: This area is not fully instanced. Most commands are blocked but if you're are performing an action like hum when entering when it pulses it will show your name to other people that are in the room even though you can't normally see them. Head north, northeast, west, north. Ask adano about job. He'll give you random jobs. I'm assuming that you have to do a number of menial tasks before you start getting Escort quests. Escort quests are the ones you really want. See table for quests. After doing a certain number of escort quests and getting noticed you will be taken to Book where you can join. You must wait 10 minutes in between each quest. Don't ask Adano for a job too quickly in succesion (I think its 3 times within a minute or so) or he will put you at the back of his list. This means any quests you've done up to that point will be forgotten and you will have to do jobs over again. Whatever you do, DO NOT ask anyone about necromancy directly. You will be tossed out of the monastery grounds and accused of necromancy by the monks. If you do this, you will need to pay your fine and you must wait a considerable period before they will allow you to return and continue your business.

Quest Table

The perform verb is used in order to perform necromantic rituals. The syntax is always PERFORM (ritual) ON (target). If the target is self, you may leave it out. You need a belt knife for rituals, the type that you don't have to remove to skin. There are some for sale in the guild on the east side of the Cloister (east of the common rooms). To reach this area, find Philosopher Markat and go east, knock on the door twice, then go east twice and go through the door. Then go east twice once more and you'll find plenty of belt knives on the table for sale.

Tips and settings to pratice your skills as the mundane.

Before leaving the guild be sure to ask Markat about PREPARE

Markat points at the sheet of lead, "Cast Energy Bolt at that, minimum coherency." Moments later, you have sent a beam of transparent, green-blue light dead center into the lead sheet. Markat nods approvingly toward you and says, "Interesting. Sure, I can teach you to prepare your spells like a ***. If you have a few anlean to kill, let me know." [Ask Markat about PREPARE or PREPARATION again in the next 30 seconds to learn the Life spell preparation as a special preparation technique (see PREPARE /HELP for more information).]

Markat launches into a few anlean of instruction. He avoids saying a single negative comment through the entire process, relying instead on a silent, withering glare every time you err. Between Markat's skill and a growing awareness of a hard limit on his patience, you quickly master the new spellcasting mnemonics. [You have learned the *** spell preparation technique. You may use PREPARE /HELP to see the options available to manage your spell preparations.]

PREPARE /HELP:

Prepare a spell by name or abbreviation followed by a numerical amount. For example, PREPARE FIRE SHARD 1, or PREP FI SHA 1, or PREP FS 1. Use the SPELLS verb to see what spells you know.

You are also able to use different messaging when preparing a spell.

PREPARE /LIST -- Lists out all available messaging you can use. You can have up to three special preps, not counting your default. PREPARE /SHIFT -- Toggles through your available messaging. PREPARE /DEFAULT -- Toggles 'off' or 'on' your default prep messaging. PREPARE /CLEAR -- Clears your currently set messaging. Note that you can not erase your default settings. Using this will *erase* your chosen special prep message. PREPARE /HIDE -- Allows you to try and hide your preparing messaging from others.

To turn of the necromancer spell preparation messages after learning a technique from Markat use PREPARE /DEFAULT to toggle the default messaging to your impersonation.

Tip - Having your DEMEANOR set to reserved or lower will help to avoid empaths from being able to touch you and potentially expose your tampering.

Tip - Eyes of the Blind allows you to travel in secrecy and perform some tasks unoticed. Casting spells will reaveal your position, although the spell will eventually re-apply automatically. Interacting with objects such as dragging, kicking, or dropping from your possession will appear to have just occured out of thin air potentially drawing attention to your presence. You can be seen if someone searches and is able to find you even while invisible and hidden (You notice the vague silhouette of <name>, who is quite obviously also attempting to remain hidden.)

Tip - Search your preserved corpses. A corpse sitting there for 5+ minutes is a dead give away.

Slips are intended to be viral, you must learn slips from one of the four guilds that have them.

Bards, Thieves, Rangers, and Necromancers are capable of learning SLIP maneuvers to some degree, and any of the four guilds can teach any member of the four guilds who is eligible.

To teach another person, you will need 100 ranks in teaching, and SLIP TEACH (person).

You do not need any scholarship to be able to receive teaching, however. Once the ability to SLIP is transferred, the abilities will accumulate naturally as you circle without the need to return to a guildleader.

SLIP abilities use a combination of Stealing and Stalking skill, while accumulation of abilities is circle based.

• Level 30 - Ability to Slip personal objects to/from personal containers.
• Level 40 - Ability to Slip worn items on and off.
• Level 50 - Ability to Slip items from the ground to one's possession. (Currently disabled)
• Level 60 - Ability to Slip into hiding and stalk a target at same time.
• Level 70 - Ability to Slip into hiding and sneak a direction at same time

Beyond Divine and Social Outrage, there's a third element to the "necro-meters" that is far more stable: your state of being. Divine Outrage comes and goes, but your Necromancer's state of being changes rarely and dramatically. You do not change your state of being without it being extremely obvious. (Redemption encompasses both an ideology and a state of being, Transcendence may or may not actually exist).
